Back in 1977, BMW made a bold statement by introducing the ‘7-Series,’ starting with the E23 model. While the European perception of a full-size sedan differed from that in the United States, the E23 stood out as a compact yet innovative flagship model representing BMW’s vision for the Seventies. This model brought new features like a ‘check control panel’ and ABS, setting the 7-Series as a trendsetter for the brand from Bayern.
The E23 resembled an upscaled version of the family-oriented 5-Series at the time, sporting a rounded body style. Its successor, the E32 introduced in 1986, exuded a majestic aura, appearing significantly larger than its 5-Series sibling. Produced from 1986 to 1994, the E32 was a stunning vehicle by European standards, offering both elegance and a remarkable driving experience. The 750i model, equipped with a powerful V12 engine, was the first BMW to have a speed limit of 250 km/h. The BMW 7-Series was exclusively available as a four-door sedan, offering options in both standard and extended wheelbase models known as the ‘L’.
