The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato and Porsche 911 GT3 RS recently faced off in a series of drag races organized by the team at carwow. These two high-performance vehicles cater to very different driving experiences: the Porsche is primarily built for the racetrack, while the Lamborghini is designed for off-road adventures.
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is equipped with a 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six engine, generating 525 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque, which it sends to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK automatic transmission. The car has a weight of 1,450 kilograms.
Conversely, the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato features a 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 engine that outputs 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. This model comes with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with a slightly heftier weight of 1,470 kilograms.
In the drag race, the Sterrato finished in 10.9 seconds, edging past the Porsche which took 11.2 seconds to cross the finish line. The all-wheel-drive system of the Lamborghini enhanced its traction, enabling a stronger launch and reduced wheelspin. Despite the Porsche’s lighter weight and swift PDK gearbox, it struggled to keep up with the Sterrato’s power and grip.
During a rolling start at 50 mph with both vehicles in their standard driving modes, the Lamborghini’s added horsepower played a crucial role. While the Porsche’s transmission was quicker to react, the extra power of the Huracán allowed it to surge ahead and sustain its lead. In another rolling race, both cars began in third gear to prevent kick-down influence. The Lamborghini further extended its lead without the need for gear shifts, highlighting its superior mid-range performance.
