Details about the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS have surfaced online just ahead of the official reveal, painting a promising picture of what’s to come.
Engine: The upcoming GT3 RS is set to be the most potent naturally-aspirated 911 model yet. It is expected to be equipped with a 4.0-liter flat-6 engine churning out 518 hp, 15 hp more than the GT3 model.
Setting itself apart from the standard GT3, the GT3 RS showcases a distinct exterior with an aggressive aero kit designed to generate substantial downforce – 900 lbs at 124 mph and 1896 lbs at 177 mph. This downforce enhances cornering but poses drag on straight roads. To counter this, Porsche has incorporated a Drag Reduction System (DRS) allowing the driver to adjust the rear wing angle with a simple press of a button. Engaging DRS enables the car to reach a top speed of 184 mph.
The GT3 RS boasts active aero elements at the front, utilizing F1-inspired bargeboards on the front fenders for directing air and louvres to extract air from the wheel arches.
Porsche has also tweaked the suspension, giving the GT3 RS a slightly wider front track than the GT3. Additionally, drivers can customize compression and rebound settings using controls on the steering wheel.
While the brake setup remains largely unchanged, featuring iron rotors from the GT3, owners will have the option to upgrade to carbon ceramics. The Weissach package will offer magnesium wheels.
Price: Speculations indicate that the base price for the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be $225,000.
