The Porsche 911 Carrera T is well recognized as a straightforward and authentic sports car for dedicated enthusiasts. For the 2025 model year, this special version has just been unveiled, and it gets even more enticing with the option to choose between a coupe and a cabriolet model for the first time. This addition introduces a fold-down canvas roof, an exciting feature for a model known for its sporty chassis. It retains the engine from the standard 911 Carrera and employs lightweight materials, with the best part being that it’s exclusively available with a six-speed manual transmission!

The 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine from the standard Carrera finds its way into this new Carrera T variant, producing a robust 388 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. The performance specs are remarkable, with acceleration from 0 to 60 mph taking just 4.3 seconds for the coupe (while the cabriolet completes it in 4.5 seconds) and a top speed of 183 mph for the coupe, closely followed by the cabriolet at 182 mph.

Differing from the seven-speed manual gearbox used in the Type 992.1 Carrera models, this new Carrera T version features a six-speed adaptation of that transmission, sending power to the rear wheels exclusively. To reinforce your identification of the model every time you take hold of the gear lever, the Carrera T includes a walnut ball atop its shift lever,To enhance downshifting capabilities for the driver, the Carrera T comes equipped with an auto-blip feature that automatically matches the engine speed to the transmission. However, if desired, this feature can be disabled through the Sport Chrono package.

The Porsche 911 Carrera T sits 10mm lower than its standard Carrera counterpart, with its suspension specifically calibrated to suit the sporty characteristics of the T model. Additionally, the brake disc dimensions have been upgraded to 350 mm front and rear, which is an increase of 20 mm compared to the previous version. The six-piston fixed calipers on the front axle now replace the prior four-piston fixed calipers, ensuring that the Carrera T can decelerate as efficiently as it accelerates.

The Carrera T includes standard rear-axle steering and features a quicker steering ratio compared to the 911 Carrera. Both the front and rear anti-roll bars have been adjusted to enhance agility and stability during driving. Additionally, Porsche Torque Vectoring, equipped with a mechanical rear differential lock and targeted braking interventions, efficiently directs power to the outer rear wheel while cornering. The vehicle boasts staggered wheel sizes, with 20-inch in the front and 21-inch in the rear, fitted with 245/35 ZR20 tires at the front and 305/30 ZR21 tires at the back.

The 911 Carrera T draws inspiration from a classic model dating back to the late Sixties and early Seventies. This earlier version, the 911 T, was a more minimalist take on the 911, focusing on performance at the expense of certain luxuries. Designed with racing in mind, the Type 991.2 of the 911 Carrera T made its debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. Its immediate predecessor from the 992.1 generation retained this performance-centered philosophy, which has also influenced the new iterations. Features like lightweight glass, less sound insulation, and an optional six-speed manual transmission contribute to a reduced curb weight compared to the standard 911 Carrera. Additionally, customers can opt for carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) bucket seats for a sportier setup, potentially reducing weight further.

The Porsche 911 Carrera T separates itself from the standard Carrera with its Vanadium Grey Metallic finish on the side mirrors and wheels, unique model designation decals on the doors and rear badge, as well as a Sport Exhaust featuring black stainless steel tailpipes. Additionally, the rear side windows are adorned with special stickers that display the manual shift pattern. While previous generations featured wheels entirely painted in the accent color, the latest model boasts a two-tone effect achieved with a partially machined exterior face in high gloss finish. The front spoiler lip from the 911 Carrera GTS models is also incorporated into this variant.

Porsche provides a selection of 12 paint colors that can be paired with the model-specific Vanadium Grey accents. These color options range from classic black and white to vibrant choices like Cartagena Yellow Metallic, Shade Green Metallic, and Chalk. There is also an optional Carrera T exterior package that introduces Gentian Blue accents across various components of the vehicle, including the wheels, model designation at the rear, slat inlays within the intake, door graphics, and a hood stripe featuring the Carrera T logo. This package replaces the standard Vanadium Grey mirror shells with black ones.

The interior of the standard configuration is adorned with Vanadium Grey on both the dashboard and center console, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The trims on the door panels are crafted from black anodized aluminum. On the dashboard, a shift pattern logo can be found on the passenger side, complemented by a distinctive “MT” badge positioned in front of the shift lever. Additionally, a unique 911 Carrera T interior package substitutes the standard black stitching with striking Gentian Blue thread. This color scheme extends to the seat belts, insert accents on the center console and dashboard, the 911 logo on the headrests, and the trim rings surrounding the instrument cluster and Sport Chrono clock. The black plaid seat centers are also highlighted with Gentian Blue accents as part of this package. For those seeking a more subdued interior aesthetic, it’s possible to opt for a Sport-Tex Plaid interior package featuring extensive leather upgrades or a fully leather interior, both of which come at an additional cost.
