The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series “Project One” edition was designed for the 275 customers who reserved Mercedes’ hybrid hypercar, which was first introduced as a concept in 2017. The design draws inspiration from the 2019 W10 Formula 1 car, featuring a two-tone paint job with teal highlights to nod to Petronas, Mercedes’ F1 sponsor.
The Project One featured a hybrid engine combining petrol and electric technologies from Formula 1. However, production was delayed, leading to its launch in August 2022, when it was rebranded as the Mercedes-AMG ONE.
Even though the cost of the car was $2.72 million, interest in it significantly surpassed the initial plans for 275 units. Nonetheless, to maintain its exclusivity, Mercedes opted to limit production. To thank customers for their wait, the company produced a special Black Series Project One variant, which was exclusively available to those who had pre-ordered the hypercar.
The AMG GT Black Series is distinguished by its redesigned front section, showcasing larger intercooler intakes compared to the base model. It also features an adjustable front splitter made of carbon fiber, a two-stage rear wing with an electronically controlled central flap, and various carbon fiber components integrated into the hood, roof, rear hatch, and side skirts.
This vehicle features a robust twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 720 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a controlled limited-slip differential. Additional details include carbon-ceramic brakes, a high-quality Burmester sound system, AMG Black Series forged wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the back, along with heated performance seats designed by AMG.
