The Anticipation Is Over – The Official Gladiator Has Arrived
After a 26-year gap, Jeep enthusiasts finally have a Jeep truck to set their sights on. Jeep revealed the impressive Jeep Gladiator at the Los Angeles Auto Show, signaling their entry into the midsize pickup segment with a strong competitor.
Visibly, the Gladiator shares many features with the Wrangler. One key difference is its length, coming in at 212 inches. Add a 60-inch bed, and the Gladiator is a perfect fit for various needs.
Jeep claims the Gladiator can tow up to 7,650 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,600 pounds. Despite the seemingly exaggerated numbers, this machine is genuinely capable and lives up to its promises.
It’s been a while since we saw a convertible pickup truck in the market. The Gladiator offers the option of a removable hardtop, a soft top, or both. Buyers can pick from four trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Overland, and the top-tier Rubicon.
In another nod to the Wrangler, the Gladiator is equipped with the same 3.6-liter gasoline V6 engine. You have the choice of a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. This energetic vehicle churns out 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Tim Kuniskis, Head of Jeep Brand in North America, is optimistic about the Gladiator, stating that “customers are looking for real trucks,” and thus the decision to name it Gladiator, positioning it in a unique market segment. “They’re looking for serious hardware,” Kuniskis added.
It’s clear that the Gladiator possesses all the necessary hardware to provide customers with an exceptional driving experience. If the 2020 release lives up to what we see now, customers can expect nothing less than top quality.
