Named in honor of the iconic Ayrton Senna, the Senna exemplifies a track-oriented hypercar that upholds the manufacturer’s tradition. Unlike a typical road vehicle, the Senna is engineered with a design closer to that of a modern GTE or LM-GTE race car. With a focus on performance and driver engagement, it harnesses a robust 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers an astonishing 789 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a sophisticated titanium exhaust system, enables the Senna to reach 60 mph in merely 2.8 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 208 mph.
In addition, McLaren has introduced a more track-oriented iteration known as the Senna GTR. Though it utilizes the same engine as the standard model, the GTR enhances performance, generating 814 bhp and 590 lb-ft of torque for quicker acceleration. Significant aerodynamic refinements, including a reshaped front splitter and an enlarged rear wing, boost downforce to over 1,000 kg at high velocities. The GTR also incorporates lightweight forged wheels and a rigid suspension calibrated for track performance, enhancing cornering grip.
RM Sotheby’s is set to auction two low-mileage specimens of the Senna and Senna GTR during their Arizona 2025 auction on January 24.
