80 Ferrari Monza supercars, gathered from around the world, participated in the inaugural ‘Ferrari Cavalcade Icona’ event in Italy. The owners enjoyed various activities, including a scenic drive through the Italian countryside that ended at the Fiorano test track.
The weather was ideal for driving the open-top Ferraris like the Monza SP1 and SP2 until an unexpected rain shower hit Fiorano, causing distress among participants. Video footage captured the cars parked in the rain, revealing the lack of preparedness by the organizers.
The Monza SP1 and SP2 are speedsters similar to the McLaren Elva and Aston Martin V12 Speedster, leaving drivers with no choice but to get wet if it rains.
While the drivers remained dry, the interiors of the cars will need extensive cleaning. This unexpected expense was likely not factored into the $30,000 event entry fee.
The Ferrari Monza SP2 is derived from the 812 Superfast model, featuring a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 800 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds.
