The McLaren P1 GTR debuted as a unique, track-oriented variant of the McLaren P1 street model, made available exclusively to P1 owners following the completion of the last of the 375 street-legal units. Nevertheless, owing to its road-legal potential, several modifications have been made to allow the P1 GTR to be driven on public roads. Enhancements include updated engine mapping for increased power, a fixed, larger hydraulically-managed wing designed for exceptional downforce, and specialized aerodynamic upgrades like a larger front splitter and a carbon fiber underbody, boosting downforce by 10%. Collectively, these modifications create a remarkable performance package, presenting the ultimate iteration of the P1.

A track width expansion of 3.2 inches compared to the standard P1 accommodates wider front and rear tires for superior grip. Additionally, 110 pounds have been shaved off the lightweight chassis by removing various elements, including sound insulation and substituting glass with polycarbonate. The impressive specifications include a total output of 986 horsepower, acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds, and a maximum speed of 225 mph, with the capability to brake from 60 mph to a complete stop in just 85 feet while cornering at 1.54Gs.

Unconstrained Design

With no regulatory barriers, McLaren engineers were free to push the limits in pursuit of maximum performance from every system. The mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine, combined with a high-performance electric motor, delivers an astonishing 986 horsepower. In addition, an F1-inspired push-to-pass feature is included for short bursts of additional power, allowing for 1,045 horsepower during those critical moments on the track. The sizable fixed rear wing utilizes a Drag Reduction System derived from F1 for enhanced straight-line speed, while the repositioned wing mirrors on the A-pillars reduce aerodynamic drag by bringing them closer to the driver’s line of sight. Every GTR is also equipped with a permanent video recording system to document the driver’s performance, overlaying relevant data for post-session analysis.

Track-Specific Enhancements

The GTR comes with multiple enhancements that distinguish it from its road-legal counterpart. The car has been lowered while still featuring a front axle nose lift for easier loading and navigating over obstacles. The 19-inch motorsports center-lock wheels facilitate quick and efficient tire changes using a jacking system adapted from the McLaren 650S GT3 racer. Positioned beneath the impressive rear wing is a tailored exhaust system crafted from titanium and Inconel alloys. According to McLaren, this exhaust is engineered to amplify the exhilarating sound of the 3.8-liter V8 while minimizing backpressure to enhance overall performance.

This McLaren P1 GTR was specially commissioned for a U.S. collector’s vehicle roster. The mileage and overall cosmetic condition indicate the GTR has seen minimal use. The original owner also opted for the factory track package, which includes essential gear for track days. This setup features twin nitrogen tanks to operate two center-lock air guns, a separate nitrogen canister for the onboard lift mechanism, Vlog equipment for video capture from onboard cameras, a Bowser race fuel system for refueling, a tablet for accessing the car’s telemetry and diagnostic codes, a spare set of track tires, aluminum mounts for elevating the car without nitrogen, a torque wrench with an extra socket, and a cover for the P1 GTR. In pristine condition, this represents a unique opportunity to acquire a P1 GTR that is essentially like new from the factory, ready for its next owner to either track it or modify it for street use. As the epitome of the iconic McLaren P1 lineage, the McLaren P1 GTR is now offered for sale globally.
