If a car ever made such a huge impact the world over, it indisputably has to be the VW Beetle. Over the last 70 years or so, the Beetle has lived a wholesome and full life cycle, becoming instinctively one of the greatest cars to have graced the surface of the earth.

Whatever thing that has a beginning certain got to come to an end at so point and for the Beetle the end is nigh. What has caught the attention of Beetle lovers though is the emotional send-off video that the company has put out?

The animated video illustrates a young man who acquires a Beetle and lives with it through family life until old age. Several events in his life including parties and childbirth take place with his beloved Beetle beside him until old age catches up. It is thus naturally very emotional that the man has to part with his Beetle forever.

When the Beetle went into production back in 1938, it was officially named the Volkswagen Type 1. As a result of the first world war, deliveries were delayed until 1947. The United States got its first bunch of the Beetles in 1950. Through massive marketing campaigns, the Beetle ended up being one of America’s most loved and most popular cars.

Several technical and design changes have characterized its lifespan without interfering much with its distinct unique looks. VW Group is immensely focused on shaping life as an electric car maker and that is one of the reasons why the Beetle just had to fade away.
