The Fiat 500X is a proud carrier of aesthetic features that wrap an incredible engineering effort under its skin. The packaging of the car into an urban-oriented two-wheel drive named the City Look and a 4 x 4 that would be enticing to the countryside excursionist named the Off Road Look is one genius marketing gimmick.
The Fiat 500X features three petrol and diesel engines ranges. They include a 138 bhp and 168 bhp with 1.4-litre Turbo MultiAir2.
There is also a 108 bhp 1.6-liter e-Torq units. Then there is the oil burner option that gives out a 94 bhp 1.3-liter MultiJet2, 118 bhp 1.6-liter MultiJet II, and a 138 bhp 2.0-liter MultiJet II.
Buyers of such a car quite often have space as an important consideration and the Fiat 500X doesn’t disappoint. The driver would seem to be sinking in his seat which is relatively lowly, ostensibly to give the vehicle a sportier look.
The passengers’ seat is however quite elevated but still very comfortable with enough headroom for an average adult. The backrests also fold flat to give the rear occupants more stylish, comfortable sitting.
The boot space is also adequate and shaped to handle a generous load. It is further enhanced by easy to fold seats. All this space makes the SUV a wholesome family car.
The FCA’s U-connect touchscreen interface is considerably sparkly and probably one of the best that the auto market can take pride in at the moment. Coupled with the with its emergency braking system, 6.5-inch infotainment display, lane-departure warning and assist among other luxurious driving accessories, this car becomes an enviably tech-responsive machine.
Fiat Chrysler Automobile reports that more than 200,000 Fiat 500s have been sold in the UK. It would thus follow that the 500X, with improved features and technology, might bolster sales overwhelmingly.
With only slightly more than three years around, no major changes are evident from the broader 500L. Nonetheless, this is poised to be a superlatively competitive brand if it maintains the same standards.
