This Is One Concept Car That The Would Make Heads Turn
Some car concepts come and fade off with very little noise and consequently very little to write home about. There are others, however, that make noises so loud that you can’t ignore them.
The Ferrari 512 S Modulo Concept introduced at the 1970 Geneva Auto Show belongs to the class of the unforgettable. This is why.
The Modulo concept rolled several unique characteristics all into one. It would have easily made the best wedge design of its time, yet it would be a serious piece of art if it resurrected to production today.
Think of its concealed wheels, the low-lying wedge, front-sliding cockpit, and so many unique gifts. It is not surprising therefore that a car enthusiast in the name of James Glickenhaus went knocking into Ferraris doors and bought the concept car from Pininfarina, with an aim to restore it back to full operation. The amounts of money involved were never mentioned.
The Modulo would have been an awesomely powerful car packing no less than 5.0-liter from the mid-mounted V12 engine. It produced a massive 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts), which even by modern standards is power worth out hats off.
Such vehicles, in our view, should belong to the select few. How about testing the response of the masses? What would happen if the well-built car ran street legal? We have no doubt it would be as lovable as the concept was back in the 70s.
