The super fast hypercar Koenigsegg Agera is poised to get even better by the time an updated version comes around at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019.
.This is not big news really. The gist of this whole affair is how this vehicle moves to the next level. According to Founder and CEO of the Swedish car manufacturer Mr. Koenigsegg Agera, the base level trim will have as much as 1,400 bhp.
Yet, even with this seemingly unfathomable power, the manufacturer says it might even go higher. “There is potential to increase that, it’s very exciting,” Said the CEO.
The yet to be christened car is expected to lose about 20 kilograms (44 pounds) and will sport a regular paddle-shift gearbox as opposed to Regera’s Direct Drive transmission. Koenigsegg further says that the car will feature slight increments in all major parts affecting its performance.
In a rather humorous tweak, he said, “It will be like a triple-distilled version of the current Agera, So it’s slightly longer, more powerful, the pistons are a bit lighter, the connecting rods a tad more intricate… everything is incremental.”
The car this new version seeks to replace is already a distinguished performer. It made a record by reaching 284.55 mph (457.94 kph). There is a possibility that this new replacement will get to as high as 300 mph.
It is a car that seems so ready to change the landscape that even the executive acknowledges it’s a tad bit weird. “It’s wild. We jokingly say that all the gears we saved in the Regera [that car used a trick Direct Drive system] we put in the new one, so there are plenty of gears.”
Such promises aren’t the kind that goes empty and unfulfilled, especially when they come from an automaker who has previously demonstrated the will and power to challenge the status quo.
In 2018, the vehicle took home five awards and even managed to break various records. Thus, what the vehicle shall do next remains a subject to be highly anticipated.
