There has been much anticipation and speculation surrounding the Rivian R1T truck, with new information slowly emerging about this potential game-changer.
Based on the specifications released by the company, it is evident that the R1T is poised to offer higher power output than any other vehicle in its class. This increased power will be delivered through a variety of larger batteries capable of rivaling traditional gasoline tanks.
Reports suggest that the R1T will offer battery options with ranges of 230, 300, and 400 miles, with power outputs of 105, 135, and 180 kW respectively. The mid-range 135 kWh battery is expected to be the fastest, delivering 754 horsepower and achieving a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.0 seconds. Additionally, every version of the R1T will feature all-wheel drive with an electric motor at each wheel, and Rivian claims that each R1T can tow over 11,000 pounds.
Rivian aims to release the first R1T to the market toward the end of 2020, with prices starting at $69,000 for the 105-kWh version and the 180-kWh battery variant being the first available option.
The electric Rivian R1T has the potential to revolutionize the truck market, especially considering the limited competition in the electric truck segment. Each new offering from automakers in this category will face significant public scrutiny.
