When the Citreon C4 Cactus was launched back in 2014, it was hailed as a unique and clever car that favored lightness and practicality over more superficial crossover rivals. Among features that amplified this status is the Airbumps across the doors; Lego-like pimpled rubber strips that would deflect away small car park dings.
A couple of years down the line, it is time to have an updated on the iconic Cactus and things are looking sleeker. It’s now a bit posher inside, with a choice of four interior ambiances. The dashboard layout is more or less the same with some new materials to make it a bit plush.
Along the rear, the C4 Cactus now puts on a slimmer set of brake-lights stretching into the tailgate. A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is part of the refurbished vehicle.
For the European market, the revised C4 Cactus can be enjoyed with either the 60 kW, 81 kW or 96 kW versions of the three-cylinder PureTech petrol engine series. For diesel-version fans, the C4 Cactus will be produced with the 74 kW and 88 kW BlueHDi diesel engines.
Depending on the engine, the C4 Cactus will come with five- or six-speed manual transmissions, or a six-speed automatic. Its not so bad of an update for a car that came to the market for years ago optimistically.
However, how and whether it takes on the Ford Focus and other contemporary competitors is matter we will closely watch.
