The praise and acclaim that the Porsche 959 has received are overwhelming. Nonetheless, we dare say it is all very well deserved for this is no ordinary car.

The exclusivity of the Porsche is first and foremost packed in two elements: power and speed. With the ability to hit zero to 60 mph in a paltry 3.6 secs and 100 mph in 8.8 seconds.

For a small-sized car like the 959, delivering 444 hp at 6500 rpm is an achievement worth some great pride. The drivetrain is a 2.8-liter flat six-cylinder.

This aluminum powerplant is thoroughly refined and you can feel the smooth response as you push the accelerator harder. Built upon the easy but sassy 911, the 959 debuted in 1985.

Back then it was meant to be a homologation car but still carried massive and advanced technologies all around. The powertrain was itself sophisticated enough carrying an air-cooled block mated to liquid-cooled heads, and sequential turbochargers hanging off each bank of cylinders.

The Porsche-Steuer Kupplung (PSK) system was back then a groundbreaking technology and it found its way into the Porsche 959. It is a power transfer system from the engine to the wheels.

The Porsche was 959 was termed as a car that was literary way ahead of its time. Going by the numerous tech specs that this car harbors, it is clear that Porsche had forethought several of its elements and actualized them in the car.
