When an automaker such as Rolls-Royce highlights a coup of changes in its cars, we are bound to listen and even watch carefully what comes out of it. The luxury brand manufacturer has been considerably consistent in design and overall architecture being careful enough to retain its signature overall outlook.
And now, the 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, is touted to be the most expensive and most exquisitely designed off-road capable vehicle to have been built. Yes, you heard it right.
To get a clear picture of this, start off with the center button console labeled Off-Road, and the humongous vehicle will gain an upward lift that will almost double its off-road capabilities. This is one of the most unique aspects of this car and the height-adjustable multi-link suspension is appropriately tweaked to handle the car’s 5,864-pound mass and to better inhale impacts off-road.
Combine this with rear-wheel steering capabilities and you ave an off-roader that takes the game a notch higher. With these features, you are also able to cruise through gravel, wet grass, mud, sand, snow, rough tracks a 21-inches of water. If this isn’t starring performance, we’d better redefine it.
History has it that the performance of Rolls-Royce on the off-road is nothing new. At a time when the only handful of roads were well well outlined, Rolls-Royce could still cruise the dirty rough roads of India in majestic style. Lawrence of Arabia traverse the Sinai Desert in this epic machines and he owned at least nine.
It, therefore, happens that the new upgrade to a big SUV is long overdue. Nonetheless, it has come at the appropriate time and it will be interesting to see how the market responds to this $325,000 vehicle.
A massive 6.75-liter twin-turbo V-12 shared with the Phantom lies under the hood. It will be delivering 563 hp at 5,000 rpm. This is further affirmed with a staunch 627 lb-ft of torque at just 1,600 rpm.
The Cullinan has all the features of a history-making automotive and it will be interesting to it grace the red carpet in the near future.
