Every end brings a new beginning. Lincoln has announced that the Corsair, a new compact SUV, will be stepping in to replace the MKC.
The Corsair is positioned to follow in the footsteps of its larger siblings, the full-size Navigator, and the mid-size Aviator and Nautilus SUVs. This shift means that the MKZ and MKT will remain as the only models in Lincoln’s lineup with the MK designation.
What Can We Expect from the Corsair?
While exact details are scarce, there are speculations about what the Corsair may offer. Rumors suggest that it could be a plug-in hybrid like its larger counterpart, the Aviator. It might also feature the turbocharged 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter inline-four engines from the MKC.
The Corsair sets out to compete with vehicles such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. In terms of design, the exterior of the Corsair has received significant attention to detail. Notable changes include its smaller size, stubbier proportions, sleek LED headlamps, refined front styling, and an evolved clam-shell tailgate first seen on the MKC. Additionally, its tapered roofline contributes to a more dynamic and sporty look compared to its larger sibling.
