Genesis has had an incredible journey and it is on a roll with its vehicles. Whichever way you look at it, the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz have had to pay attention.
Like all big brothers, the company has its eyes on electric vehicles. Under development is the Genesis Essentia, a new dedicated EV platform slated to debut in 2021.
The company hinted that there will be two models produced from the platform, a sedan, and an SUV. As Hyundai’s luxurious arm, Genesis is hoping to make use of the growing interest of affordable cars that are top of the range. Technology, exterior, and interior design, as well as competitive pricing, are some of the approaches that the company is banking on.
Genesis CEO has said that he is looking to revoluionalise and make an impact by incorporating new experimental approaches. He said, “I believe the battery-electric vehicle is just a transitional technology. I see a lot of potential in telling the hydrogen story in the right way, and as soon as people really see it they will recognize the upsides and all the benefits.”
Hyundai is making big steps in a bid to reap from the growth of the industry. Recently, the company invested $90 million in the Croatian carmaker Rimac, a specialist in battery-electric supercars. In a big way, this serves as a vote of confidence in the future of EV motoring.
