Ferrari seems to be on the race to introduce an SUV, perhaps to catch up with its competitors Lamborghini and Maserati, that have already made strides to the SUV party. However, if and when the Purosangue comes over, the playground will be level.
Translated, the name means “thoroughbred” in Italian but the car is currently being developed under the code-named 175. The project to have an SUV on the road is seemingly not non-retractable.
The designs have apparently been approved by the relevant internal authorities. Some reports indicate that this vehicle will borrow from some front and mid-engine architecture.
It will thus ride on V6, V8 and V12 engines. In addition, it might carry a hybrid boost or come without.
The SUV is anticipated to be a five-seater sitting quite high above the ground. It will also feature a height-adjustable suspension, thus allowing both on-road and off-road cruising.
At this point in time, we don’t know much about this very promising SUV. One thing that is almost guaranteed though is that this will be a highly competitive car and no doubt among the best in its category.
From a business perspective, this is a bold and very favorable decision for Ferrari. The rise in the popularity of SUVs is no doubt an encouraging factor given that the market has readily accepted this development.
