Aston Martin proudly unveils the DB12 Goldfinger Edition, designed by the prestigious marque’s custom personalization division, Q by Aston Martin, to commemorate 60 years of the legendary connection between Aston Martin and the James Bond film series.
The partnership that has become one of the most significant in film history began with the premiere of Goldfinger in 1964, during which the Aston Martin DB5 debuted on the big screen. The DB5 quickly transformed into one of the most recognized automobiles globally and played a vital role in the brand’s prestigious ‘DB’ lineage. Now, the latest iteration of that lineage receives the 007 tribute. Only 60 DB12 Goldfinger Editions will be made available across the globe to celebrate this significant anniversary, honoring a relationship that has endured throughout more than half of Aston Martin’s remarkable 111-year legacy.
While the DB5 showcased in Goldfinger came stocked with an array of gadgets for evading Bond’s enemies, the DB12 Goldfinger Edition aims to deliver a more luxurious driving experience inspired by the iconic film.
Sporting the classic Silver Birch paint color representative of the DB5 in Goldfinger, the DB12 Goldfinger Edition makes an immediate visual impact. It features eye-catching 21” multi-spoke wheels, finished in a distinctive silver with a diamond treatment, complemented by black brake calipers, custom gold side strakes, and a unique Aston Martin emblem rendered in silver and black enamel. A bright chrome ‘Q’ badge on the fender signifies that this DB12 possesses some truly remarkable characteristics.
Within this exclusive edition, the leather Sports Plus seats are designed in the traditional DB5 fluted manner, featuring a complex Prince of Wales check perforation pattern that pays homage to classic James Bond attire. This design is mirrored in the door inserts and headliner, and is also reflected on a distinctive treadplate. Moreover, a polished sill plaque showcases the Goldfinger 60th anniversary logo.
To enhance the sense of opulence within the vehicle, 18k Gold Plated accents adorn key interior elements, including the drive mode rotary dial, roller controls, and the notched gear selector, whose design draws inspiration from the golden tracking device utilized by Bond in the movie. This luxurious theme extends to the trim inlays, which incorporate gold metal fibers woven into the 2X2 Twill Gloss Carbon Fibre.
A delightful detail for fans of James Bond is the ‘eight of hearts’ stitched onto the driver’s sun visor, reminiscent of the card displayed in the climactic draw during the iconic Miami pool scene from Goldfinger.
Each Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition comes with an impressive selection of gifts that match the exclusivity of the vehicle itself. Owners will receive a tailored car cover and an opulent key presentation box, accompanied by a Silver Birch Speedform model. To further enhance this unique package, a segment of the legendary Furka Pass scene from Goldfinger in 35mm film will also be included. Additionally, buyers will be gifted a limited edition 1/60 gold Aston Martin magazine. These exclusive items will be housed within a Globe-Trotter attaché case, which mirrors the car’s design featuring a Silver Birch exterior and a Prince of Wales check interior.
The DB12 Goldfinger Edition has been designed by the in-house talent at Q by Aston Martin; a customization and bespoke service inspired by the ‘Q Branch’ in the James Bond films, offering limitless personalization options. Customers can engage in a distinctive commissioning experience that ranges from choosing a singular detail to overseeing the complete engineering and manufacturing of entirely custom components. With the design team’s vast capabilities, the potential to craft a truly unique vehicle is boundless.
“The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured,” noted Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer. “It is an incredible occasion…to commemorate six decades of this collaboration with an exceptional special edition and pay tribute to the original—and arguably the most iconic—Aston Martin Bond vehicle. With understated yet significant enhancements conceived by our own ‘Q’ department, we have crafted a truly distinctive model that will surely captivate Bond enthusiasts around the globe. Q by Aston Martin enables us to bring to life one-of-a-kind vehicles, often sparked by the visions of our distinguished clients, and I am thrilled we can accommodate these requests, regardless of their scale.”
The Aston Martin DB12 offers an exquisite fusion of performance, opulence, and design, elevating the prestigious DB lineage to unprecedented levels. Sporting a robust 4.0-liter V8 Twin-Turbo engine, delivering a class-leading power output of 680PS/800Nm, and paired with a sophisticated suspension system, the DB12 promises an exhilarating yet smooth driving experience.
As the inaugural model in Aston Martin’s new generation of sports cars, the DB12 introduces an advanced infotainment system, meticulously engineered in-house with cutting-edge technology. Striking a perfect balance between touchscreen functionalities and traditional physical controls, this system marks a significant achievement for Aston Martin, enabling a truly personalized experience for entertainment and navigation. When behind the wheel of a Bond-themed DB12, passengers will require a fitting audio experience; hence, the Goldfinger Edition is equipped with the standard Bowers & Wilkins halo audio system.
The Aston Martin DB12 represents the forefront of the latest generation of sports cars from Aston Martin. Following its debut in 2023, this super tourer has been complemented by the newly released Vantage, DBX707, and the recently launched Vanquish. The initial deliveries of this exclusive model are set to begin in the second quarter of 2025.
