The 2023 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus is a sharp looking Compact SUV. Mazda continues to improve the CX-30 with significant updates in safety, power and fuel efficiency. It handles like a compact car and is fun to drive. With the Turbo you get a lot more horsepower and it is noticeable. The cabin is also very nice and it is a comfortable vehicle to drive. It has a good suite of safety features and also was a finalist in the U.S. News 2023 Best Subcompact SUV for the Money.

The CX-30 offers a stylish exterior with LED automatic on/off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. My test vehicle was in the Snowflake White Pearl which is perfect for warmer climates. The addition of black rear roof spoilers, gray metallic 18-inch black alloy wheels, and matte finish front grille adds a touch of sophistication. Rain-sensing windshield wipers enhance convenience, making the CX-30 ready for any adventure.

Inside the CX-30, Mazda combines comfort and technology in a very efficient cabin. The 8.8-inch center display with Mazda Connect infotainment, controllable via a multi-function commander knob, integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The CX-30 2.5 S comes standard with amenities such as an eight-speaker sound system, dual USB inputs, and a seven-inch LCD multi-information gauge display. The well-appointed interior provides a premium driving environment. The Bose 12 speaker system makes sure you can zip around town while jamming to your favorite tunes or podcast. It’s a compact SUV so the space is limited but Mazda does a lot within the cabin to make it comfortable and functional.

Engine and Transmission:

The CX-30 2.5 S features Mazda’s updated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter, four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Delivering 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, this efficient powertrain ensures a dynamic driving experience. The quick-shifting six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and sport mode adds to the CX-30’s responsive performance.

Driver Experience:

The CX-30 handles like a car and it is easy to drive and park. It is actually a fun vehicle to drive and quite comfortable, especially during those longer commutes. The steering is responsive and I felt a good sense of control behind the wheel. The Turbo is a noticeable difference in power and would be the way to go with the CX-30. It is substantially more in cost but you will know where those extra dollars went when you step on the gas. Overall a great Compact SUV and a very good value for the MSRP.
