Once or twice, plans to have it redesigned have gone as far as producing prototypes that are tested but not mass produced. And now, as Acura plans to launch the second generation in 2019, there has been so much focus on its past that a lot more is lost on what this redesigned vehicle might look like.
This is only natural. After such silence, enthusiastic fans would have their adrenaline rushing and pessimists have a fair share of their doubts made public.
All this notwithstanding, the Acura NSX promises to be an exceedingly pleasant machine with befitting engineering and architectural upgrades. The modernized NSX will have a set of Continental SportContact 6 tire as opposed to the ContiSportContact 5P that the previous version rode on.
These is quite significant, especially now that these are the tires in which a Honda Civic Type R wore while writing its own new record at the Lightning Lap 2018 edition, closing at 3:03.9 (that’s quite cool to be honest, but the winner, Porsche 911 zoomed past the finish line at 2:37.8).
The NSX still caries a V-6 engine that is activated with nine-speed dual-clutch automatic and electric motor. Then there is a TMU (twin-motor unit) that’s designed to give the NSX a better thrust. All this effort produces 573 hp.
The infotainment system is nothing out of the ordinary really but at least there will be voice command this time round. In the spirit of sporting, the NSX has been beautified with a wide range of colors.
Perhaps the most outstanding is the Thermal Orange which is fused with the sunset in mind. If donned with orange brake calipers,it looks pretty enough to startle small town talk.
The remodeled NSX doesn’t look bad at all! It seems ready to pick up competition where it left it and probably do much better this time round.
