A thrilling showdown unfolded on the drag strip as three powerhouses of the electric car industry competed for supremacy, featured in a video by the DragTimes YouTube channel. Representing unparalleled electric performance were the Tesla Plaid with 1,020 horsepower, the Lucid Air Sapphire boasting 1,234 horsepower, and the Rimac Nevera, an astounding 1,914 horsepower beast.
The opening race saw the Lucid Sapphire go head-to-head with a Tesla Plaid equipped with the Track Pack. Both vehicles were charged to 95% and prepared for optimal drag performance. During a half-mile sprint at the Avon Park airstrip, the Lucid Sapphire narrowly defeated the Tesla. It completed the distance in 14.4 seconds at 187 mph, while the Plaid followed closely at 14.5 seconds and 186 mph. Although the Tesla launched stronger, the Lucid’s sheer power ultimately clinched the victory.
In the subsequent matchup, the Sapphire competed against the Rimac Nevera. This engineering marvel, with its four electric motors delivering over 1,900 horsepower, advanced torque vectoring, and a carbon-fiber monocoque, boasts a staggering top speed of 258 mph.
In their half-mile duel, the Rimac easily outstripped the Lucid Sapphire. Despite struggling for traction on the unprepared surface, the Rimac achieved an impressive 204 mph in just over 13 seconds. Its relentless acceleration was evident, even as it battled for grip at the start. The Sapphire, although powerful, could not rival the Nevera’s formidable performance.
For the final showdown, all three vehicles—the Tesla Plaid, Lucid Sapphire, and Rimac Nevera—lined up for a three-car race. The Plaid encountered launch issues, while the Rimac’s overwhelming power once again allowed it to take command of the race. In a follow-up roll race, the Rimac once more proved its superiority over the competition/
