2022 BMW 230i Coupe
2022 230i Coupe

This past week, I had the opportunity to experience the new 2022 BMW 230i Coupe. Impressive features include its performance, especially in terms of handling and quick gearshifts, as well as its sleek exterior and interior design, and advanced engine technology. The 2022 BMW 230i Coupe offers a high level of customization to cater to individual driver preferences.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2022 BMW 230i Coupe stands out with its striking Melbourne Red Metallic color, complemented by Satin Aluminum Exterior Trim. The design maintains the classic coupe style with a modern twist, hinting at a touch of muscle car inspiration. The iconic BMW grille is well-proportioned, blending seamlessly with the sleek body design. LED headlights provide excellent visibility, while the elongated hood accommodates the powerful BMW engine comfortably. The rear of the car remains understated, with a discreet built-in spoiler for improved aerodynamics.

Interior

Step inside the 2022 BMW 230i Coupe to discover a visually appealing interior featuring white leather seats and silver accents. The bold white seats immediately catch the eye, adding a sense of brightness to the cabin. The interior offers a range of customization options, further enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.

The leather seats in the test model were not only luxurious but also incredibly comfortable. The silver trim adds a touch of vibrancy to the interior, while subtle hints of orange on the dashboard and in the interior lighting create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The interior boasts a host of technology features, including a multifunctional iDrive system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, dynamic cruise control, real-time traffic monitoring, and more. Despite the slightly small display size, the array of high-tech sensors and ambient lighting elevate the interior ambiance.

Engine / Powertrain

Under the hood, the 2022 BMW 230i Coupe is equipped with a standard 2.0-liter BMW Turbo inline-4 engine, paired with an impressive 8-speed sport automatic transmission and dynamic driving control with multiple driving modes.

The engine delivers a robust 255 horsepower at 6500 RPM, achieving fuel efficiency ratings of 26 MPG in the city, 35 MPG on the highway, and 29 MPG combined. While not the most potent engine in the BMW lineup, it strikes a fine balance between performance and fuel efficiency, making it suitable for both spirited driving and everyday use.

Special Options / Package

For those seeking additional features, BMW offers several special packages for the 2022 BMW 230i Coupe:

  • The dynamic handling package includes M Sport brakes and differential for $1900.
  • The premium package comprises a heated steering wheel, front heated seats, adaptive LED lighting, full heads-up display, and Live Cockpit Pro software with navigation features for $2650.
  • The M Sport package, priced at $3250, features black trim with high gloss finish, ambient lighting, M Sport steering wheel, suspension, Shadowline exterior trim, variable sport steering, and anthracite headliner.
  • Enhance your driving experience with the Harmon Kardon surround sound system for $875.

Safety

BMW emphasizes safety, with the 2 Series Gran Coupe earning accolades for its safety features. Standard safety elements include a comprehensive Head Protection System (HPS), seat-mounted airbags, frontal collision warnings, blind-spot detection, lane departure alerts, knee airbags, powerful LED headlights, and parking cameras and sensors.

While most safety features are inclusive, the premium package offers variable LED lights as an optional upgrade.

Conclusion

The 2022 BMW 230i Coupe impresses with its refined engine performance, extensive safety features, customizable packages, and overall driving experience. With a starting MSRP of $36,350, this model delivers a compelling blend of luxury, performance, and style.
