Enjoying the open air as you drive, especially in certain weather conditions, can be quite refreshing. The Buick Cascada is a prime example of how to do just that. However, it’s regrettable to note that 2019 marks the final year for the Cascada’s availability at dealerships.
A statement from Buick to a publication mentioned that “the Cascada has served its purpose in the lineup excellently, surpassing many other luxury convertibles and attracting a significant number of buyers from outside GM,” also adding that “it has reached the end of its planned lifecycle, and 2019 will be the last model year it is offered. Dealers have been informed, and many will carry inventory throughout the remaining year.”
The Buick Cascada has led a varied existence. It was known as the Opel Cascada in the US, Opel Cabrio in Spain, the Holden in Australia and New Zealand, and Vauxhall in the U.K.
Powered by a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine generating 200hp, this compact car presents a solid option in the luxury convertible segment. Its standard configuration includes front-wheel drive mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.3 seconds, a tad slower than many of its rivals but respectable nonetheless. The soft top can be folded down in 17 seconds while cruising at 31 mph.
