The Renault Koleos SUV enters the market at a time when consumers are more receptive to large yet affordable vehicles. It will be competing with other popular models such as the Kia Sorento, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Nissan X-Trail, all vying for consumer attention.
Although the Renault Koleos is based on the Nissan X-Trail, it offers unique styling, specifications, and trim options to differentiate itself in the crowded SUV segment. The spacious interior of the Koleos, with a 565-liter trunk, sets it apart from its sibling, the Renault Kadja.
Powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 175 bhp, the Koleos offers both front-wheel and four-wheel drive options. It achieves a fuel economy of 44.1 – 45.6 mpg and emits 163 g/km (front-wheel drive) or 168 g/km (four-wheel drive) of CO2.
While its acceleration from 0-62 mph in around 10 seconds may be considered average, the CVT automatic transmission performs well within its class.
The Renault Koleos comes equipped with standard features such as a 7-inch touchscreen with sat-nav and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, an opening panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Upgrading to the Signature trim adds an 8.7-inch touchscreen, LED headlamps, and part-leather upholstery with heated front seats. The top-of-the-line Initiale Paris variant offers luxury amenities like 19-inch wheels, two-tone nappa leather, and a Bose stereo system.
As the competition in the SUV market grows, the Renault Koleos aims to stand out with its unique features and design. Only time will tell if it can make a significant impact in this competitive segment.
