Big players in the automotive industry, like Nissan, continuously strive to establish their dominance in the market. Despite facing challenges, the Japanese automaker remains committed to innovation and progress.
Nissan consistently unveils futuristic concepts that have the potential to revolutionize the industry when they become a reality. The Nissan IMs, revealed at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, has garnered widespread acclaim as one of the most impressive electric vehicles showcased to date.
Featuring a massive 115 KW battery, the IMs concept stands out as a groundbreaking innovation rather than just a distant idea. This concept car boasts all-wheel drive with two motors, one for each axle, generating a remarkable 483 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The 115-kilowatt-hour battery pack installed beneath the vehicle floor offers an impressive range of 380 miles.
An intriguing aspect of the IMs is its air suspension system, paired with the low center of gravity from the battery pack placement, enabling sharp cornering and a comfortable ride. Despite being a four-door sedan with standard front bucket seats, the IMs features a rear bench seat that can transform from a typical three-seat setup to a unique “Premier Seat” configuration, perfect for VIP or chauffeur-driven passengers.
Nissan classifies this vehicle as an “elevated sports sedan,” marking its entry into a competitive arena where it rivals companies solely focused on electric vehicles, like Tesla. While Tesla also offers similar cars, Nissan’s reputation and diverse model lineup, including the IMs concept, position it strongly in this segment.
