Alfa Romeo and Zagato have introduced their latest creation – the Giulia SWB Zagato, marking a century of collaboration between the two iconic Italian automakers.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is based on the Giulia Quadrifoglio sedan and inherits the GTAm’s powertrain, featuring a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine generating 533 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
This unique car showcases an assertive yet elegant front design highlighted by distinctive triple-pod LED headlights and a triangular grille. As a Zagato creation, it boasts the signature double-bubble roof and a rear end with a continuous LED light bar.
Alejandro Mesonero, Alfa Romeo Design Vice President, commented, “Zagato has crafted a new one-off for its centenary. The outcome is a vehicle that seamlessly follows the historical journey of these two brands, where the primary focus has always been marrying beauty with performance.”
Alfa Romeo “SZ” draws on a rich heritage of coachbuilding, reflecting the artistry and precision akin to crafting bespoke attire for a mechanical creation, aligning with the ethos of ateliers such as Zagato that have interpreted the distinguished “biscione” brand.
The ethos of this 2023 SZ is reminiscent of the 1960s, featuring a design underscored by simplicity, aerodynamics, and agility. The new SZ embodies a dynamic, uncomplicated silhouette with flowing lines from front to rear, encapsulating both strength and subtlety,” he elaborated.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is a custom creation for a passionate German collector with a fondness for the brand, who houses numerous Alfa Romeos in his collection, including an 8C Competizione.
