Mercedes has unveiled a plug-in hybrid version of the recently released AMG GT at the 2023 IAA Mobility in Munich.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept E Performance is equipped with the same twin-turbo V8 engine as the GT 63. However, it also features a plug-in hybrid system that increases the overall output from 577 hp to over 800 hp. While the torque figure has not been disclosed by Mercedes, we can expect a significant increase from the 590 lb-ft offered by the GT 63.

Undoubtedly, the performance of this hybrid will be extremely impressive. However, our main concern lies with its weight. The AMG GT already weighs close to 2 tonnes, and with the addition of an electric motor and a heavy battery, the E Performance version will be even heavier.

Mercedes currently offers a similar plug-in hybrid setup in the GT 63 S E Performance 4-door coupe, which boasts an output of 831 hp and a whopping 1032 lb-ft of torque!
