Introduced in 2015 as McLaren’s most budget-friendly option, the McLaren Sports Series expanded to include various models in addition to the original 570S and 540C. Alongside the Spider version, McLaren also introduced the less track-oriented 570GT and a couple of race-ready models, the 570S GT4 and Sprint.
Now, entering the scene is the 600LT, the track-focused car that brings the Longtail legacy to the Sports Series lineup. The 600LT maintains a focus on the styling cues of the Sports Series family.
The Longtail package contributes to enhancing aero features. At the front, it showcases a new carbon-fiber diffuser that extends further from the front.
The midsection is flanked by modified elements on each side with vertical wings towards the front wheels. While the front fascia, headlights, and trunk lid remain the same, the fenders now sport small openings near the doors.
The 600LT utilizes a version of McLaren’s 562-hp twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 engine found in the 570S and 570S Spider. With this powerhouse, it generates 592 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
A digital gauge cluster prominently features the tachometer front and center, accompanied by additional gauges. The sport seats with generous bolsters ensure driver and passenger safety, though the low seating position and wide door sills may pose a slight challenge during entry and exit.
The infotainment system is robust as well. As expected, cargo space is limited, requiring you to pack light. Nevertheless, the vehicle does not disappoint in embodying the true McLaren Sporting heritage.
