The Goodwood Festival of Speed, sponsored by Mastercard this year, commenced in grand fashion on Thursday. The event featured remarkable supercar debuts, such as those from Czinger, Porsche, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, and more. Notable cars like the BMW M3 Touring also made their first appearances. The day included the first Timed Practice for the Timed Shootout cars, featuring extraordinary vehicles like the 2000PS Ford Electric SuperVan, Travis Pastrana, and ex-F1 driver Max Chilton in the McMurtry Speirling.
Friday marked the return of Nigel Mansell to his Ferrari F1 car as the weekend’s activities began in earnest. Every participating car, ranging from F1 cars to Le Mans winners, N24 cars, and supercars, navigated the hill. Saturday witnessed the second-fastest time ever recorded on the Goodwood Hill, intense Timed Shootout qualifying rounds, thrilling rally car performances, and captivating driftkhana demonstrations. The day was characterized by tire-shredding action and high-speed runs. Highlights included Wayne Rainey popping a wheelie on his modified bike, a Le Mans winning 911 RSR showcasing remarkable tire-smoking prowess, Travis Pastrana putting on an impressive show, and Klaus Ludwig demonstrating that vintage rally cars can still drift.
