So far, we’ve profoundly established that the future of motoring will be significantly different from what we know today. Not that the principles will change, but rather the kind of machines we see on the road.
A lot of ground work has gone into making vehicles respond to human needs and wants in different ways.
Of course there still will be vehicles whose primary tasks will be basically facilitating mobility.
In the same breadth there will be vehicles meant to make personal statements. To send a given message.
In 2017, Lamborgini in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) revealed one of the most futuristic vehicle prototypes that will grace planet earth in the near future. Code named Terzo Millennio or “third millennium,” this concept aims at addressing five key areas that are integral in sports car performance: they are energy storage systems, innovative materials, propulsion system, visionary design, and “emotion”.
Each of these areas has been addressed in great dedication, in a bid to ensure that it comes out as the best-in-class in an all round manner. For instance,the Terzion Millennio’s energy storage system works hand-in-hand with an integrated electric engine on each wheel, giving the full four-wheel drive Lambo experience.
Moving the electric motors into the wheels.In addition, the bodywork of the Millennio will utilize Lamborghini’s expertise in carbon fiber, which naturally results in significant weight reduction. Associate professor of mechanical engineering, John Hart, who is engaged in investigating new carbon fiber and composite materials for the project said, “We are thrilled to combine our expertise in advanced materials and manufacturing with the vision and support of Automobili Lamborghini, and to realize new concepts that will shape the future of transportation.”
There has been rather little update on the progress of this project. However, by all standards, it truly seems viable and one that might revolutionize the way future Lambos act and react.
