For the second year in a row, Automobili Lamborghini is participating in the Auto e Moto d’Epoca exhibition at the Bologna Fairgrounds. The brand is represented by Lamborghini Polo Storico, the division dedicated to safeguarding and showcasing the heritage of Lamborghini by managing the company archives, carrying out restorations, and certifying classic Lamborghinis, including models up to the final iterations of the Diablo.

Polo Storico serves as a vital resource for enthusiasts and collectors globally, showcasing the shell of a 1968 Miura S that is currently being restored, alongside a 1994 Diablo SE. Both of these iconic models are noteworthy representations of the efforts of Polo Storico. The Miura, under restoration, provides a unique glimpse into the restoration process, with the front section already completed while the rear remains unfinished without bodywork.

The Diablo SE, in contrast, is maintained in its original state and was recently brought over from a private collector in the United States for inspection and future preservation efforts.

The Miura S showcased in Bologna was completed on December 13, 1968, and was intended for delivery to Rome. It features a white exterior paired with a mustard-colored interior. This vehicle is currently on display after a restoration that focused on its frame and body coverings, referred to as “skins” in technical terms. The frame has been repainted to its original black hue, while the body is awaiting final preparation before painting, currently presented in bare metal.

The Miura S is regarded as the second iteration of the model that transformed the world of luxury super sports cars and defined the supercar concept. It made its debut at the Turin Motor Show in November 1968, where it showcased various enhancements including improvements in its structure, interior finishes, as well as increased power and speed over its already impressive predecessor.

The Diablo SE 30 showcased is the 99th out of a limited run of only 150 units. Lamborghini introduced this model in September 1993 to mark the company’s 30th anniversary, highlighted by a unique exterior color specifically crafted for this edition, a vibrant purple known as “Lambo Thirty.” The featured Diablo SE 30, manufactured in 1994, was delivered to Germany in April 1995. It comes equipped with amenities such as a radio with CD capability, four-point harnesses for the seats, an onboard extinguisher, and a central steering wheel insert finished in gray leather.

The SE 30 lineup is notable for its impressive weight reduction of 125 kg, accomplished through extensive use of carbon fiber for the body panels and magnesium alloy for the wheels. Key design features include a redesigned engine lid, a functional adjustable rear spoiler, and custom alloy wheels. The chassis was enhanced with innovative torsion bars that could be adjusted from inside the vehicle, while the electronic engine management system, incorporating specially developed cylinder heads and intake manifolds, boosted power output to 525 CV at 7000 rpm.

The Lamborghini display can be found in Pavilion 31 at the Bologna Fairground, specifically at stand A9. The event is set to take place from October 24 to 27, with operating hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (extended to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 25 and 26).
