While some car manufacturers may exaggerate the electric vehicle industry, KIA Motors, a leading Asian automaker, has kept things straightforward and functional.
Take a good look at the Kia Soul EV, and you’ll see that all the excitement is neatly simplified for everyday use. Unveiled at the LA Auto Show, the 2020 Kia Soul EV is a front-wheel-drive vehicle with an electric motor producing 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque. This is a significant improvement from the 2018 Soul EV, which had 109 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque.
The increase in power can be attributed to a larger battery, a liquid-cooled 64-kWh unit, providing a range of 239 miles. It’s evident that this car is both practical in appearance and performance.
The new model will feature 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and unique fog lamps. As an EV, it has minimized the use of a grille to enhance its aerodynamic shape.
In terms of technology, the car is well-equipped with a 10.3-inch color touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a range of active safety features, and an updated version of the UVO telematics system. This system allows drivers to monitor the battery status, charging progress, and even set a charging schedule.
Kia has taken a serious stance on EVs, understanding the competitive nature of the market. Making the Soul EV an ambassador for their cause is undoubtedly a wise decision.
