The Genesis G70 is a new player in the sports sedan category. The luxury arm of Hyundai has successfully elevated its status to compete with the likes of Audi, BMW 3-series, Mercedes-Benz, and Jaguar. It incorporates unique features that contribute to shaping its distinctive character.
One notable feature is its rear-wheel-drive configuration, similar to the one found in the Kia Stinger. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four producing 252 horsepower, while there is an optional 365-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6. Both engine options come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Additionally, a six-speed manual transmission will be available for the Sports trim.
The interior of the G70 offers luxurious touches such as heated and cooled quilted leather front seats, a premium 15-speaker audio system, and a touchscreen display. It also incorporates driver-assist technologies like automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
Parking is made easier with front sensors aiding drivers, and a 4 HD camera system allows monitoring of the surroundings displayed on the AVN screen.
With a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds, the G70 holds its own among its competitors. This vehicle marks a significant move for Hyundai’s luxury segment.
