Ferrari has teased a new model on Instagram, hinting at it being based on the 296 GTB. Surprisingly, the open-top 296 GTS was not anticipated to be revealed this month.
The teaser image offers a glimpse of the side profile of the upcoming model. The vent and window profile resemble those of the 296 GTB, but two extra shut lines indicate a potential difference. Confirmation of whether it’s the 296 GTS is expected on April 19.
The Ferrari 296 GTS will share the V6 hybrid powertrain with the coupe variant. Its 3.0-liter V6 engine generates 654 hp, coupled with an electric motor that amplifies the total output to 818 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. Ferrari claims the 296 GTB accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph, with the GTS likely to match these performance figures.
The rumored unveiling of the 296 GTS on April 19 comes as a surprise to many, especially considering speculations that its launch might have been delayed.
