When elite racers venture into car manufacturing, they often aim to share their unique experiences with the general public. Legendary Formula One and Indianapolis 500 champion Emerson Fittipaldi is designing a car that not only honors his legacy but also promises exceptional performance on the road.
Known as the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo, this car features a shark-themed design. Unveiled at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Fittipaldi shared that this project had been a dream of his for almost half a century.
At the age of 70, Fittipaldi made history by becoming the youngest Formula One world champion at 26. Building on this success, he went on to secure five more wins in 1972 driving a special Lotus 72. Now, he aims to produce only 39 units of the EF7 cars, emphasizing their simplicity and accessibility for drivers of all levels.
“I wanted to create a car that offers an enjoyable driving experience for both men and women,” explained the former champion. “I prioritized a spacious cockpit with excellent visibility and opted for naturally aspirated engines over turbocharging. This design allows for better throttle control in high-speed turns.”
Equipped with a 4.8-liter V8 engine, this custom-made car generates 600 horsepower. Fittipaldi has teamed up with prestigious racing engineering firms, including Pininfarina, known for their collaboration with McLaren in Formula One.
These advancements are set to revolutionize the world of motor racing, making high-performance vehicles accessible to a wider audience and bringing excitement to the roads.
