The McLaren Senna honors the iconic Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, who raced for McLaren from 1988 to 1993, clinching three World Championships and four Constructors’ titles. The vehicle was initially unveiled in 2017 and made its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
In addition to the road-ready model, McLaren unveiled a track-only Senna GTR concept, amplifying the assertive design of the road variant with larger diffusers, a minimalist interior, and a fire suppression system. Upon the GTR’s release in 2020, McLaren branded it as the fastest and most advanced vehicle they had ever constructed at that time.
For enthusiasts seeking even more exclusivity, McLaren’s Special Operations division crafted the Senna GTR LM. This ultra-rare model saw only five units produced, each adorned with a distinctive livery inspired by the five McLaren F1 GTR vehicles that participated in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the team achieved remarkable placements of 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th.
An exceptionally rare vehicle is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s, boasting an estimated price range of $2.1 to $2.6 million. This car pays tribute to the F1 GTR chassis 06R, which notably finished third during the 1995 race. This specific model of the Senna GTR LM showcases the legendary yellow and green Harrods livery, closely mimicking the 06R that was raced by Andy Wallace, Derek Bell, and Justin Bell.
The GTR LM is outfitted with a powerful twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 833 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, with an elevated redline of 9,000 rpm, all encapsulated in a lightweight chassis weighing just 1,188 kg. Additional features include matte dark graphite OZ Racing wheels, gold-painted brake calipers, and a twin-exit Inconel exhaust system.
The interior features a race-oriented cockpit equipped with FIA-certified carbon fiber bucket seats, outfitted with six-point harnesses, titanium-nitride pedals, and a steering wheel that includes anodized gold controls. Notably, this model’s cabin features tributes to the original 06R vehicle, along with signatures from racing legends Derek Bell and Bruno Senna.
This particular vehicle, available from its first owner, has accumulated merely 1,003 kilometers since it was purchased. It includes an extra Senna GTR engine and a complete set of wheels and tires designed for wet conditions. Additionally, it has been showcased at notable automotive events, including the Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in both 2020 and 2023.
