The Land Rover Sentinel, crafted by Land Rover Special Vehicles Operations (SVO), is a specialized vehicle built to shield its passengers from modern and unorthodox forms of attacks such as gunfire and improvised explosive devices. This robust vehicle has now received an upgrade.
With an additional tonne of armoring and reinforced glass, the vehicle now meets the stringent ballistic and blast certification standards required for such vehicles. This increased protection has inevitably added weight to the car.
To cope with the added weight, the previous Sentinel’s V6 petrol engine has been swapped with a version of Jaguar Land Rover’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine generating 374 bhp. This upgrade allows the vehicle to achieve a 0-62 mph time of 10.4 seconds, with a limited top speed of 120 mph.
Internally, the Range Rover Sentinel boasts the same luxurious features found in standard top-spec Autobiography models. This latest model offers various choices of leather and wood finishes, state-of-the-art twin-screen Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, four-zone climate control, and 24-way heated and cooled massage seats.
Externally, the vehicle is equipped with full LED lighting, and an optional Black Pack can be selected to replace the chrome-colored exterior accents. The 2019 Sentinel can also be customized with a siren and emergency lighting packages, along with a custom front window that can be lowered by 150 mm (approximately six inches) for document deliveries.
The interior provides increased headroom and overall improved features on this armored vehicle.
