We all know the Dubai police force has some of the world’s fastest supercars and hypercars on its fleet. Their latest addition is the Lamborghini Urus Performante, which was delivered by the local Lamborghini Dubai dealership in late 2023 during the 60th Anniversary of the factory in Sant’Agata. One interesting detail is that the car has a license plate with ’60’ on it, marking the special occasion.
At a special ceremony during the Dubai Airshow 2023, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, acting commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, received the keys to the Lamborghini Urus Performante from Paolo Sartori, Regional Head of Automobili Lamborghini Middle East and Africa. Sartori expressed his delight at continuing the collaboration with Dubai Police and affirmed that the new Urus Performante will be utilized for various public duties to enhance the city’s security and safety, showcasing the brand’s strong presence in the UAE.
The updated Lamborghini Urus Performante is an enhanced version of the original Urus. While the Urus S is a mid-life facelift, the Urus Performante targets a different market segment. It is equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine, similar to the Urus and Urus S. In the Performante iteration, the power output is an impressive 666 CV, with 850 Nm of torque at engine speeds ranging from 2,300 to 4,500 rpm. Despite being a heavy SUV, the Urus Performante accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (approx. 60mph) in just 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 306 km/h (approx. 190 mph).
To be deployed in the Dubai Police Force, the Lamborghini Urus Performante required custom modifications to meet the necessary specifications for active duty. Despite its impressive capabilities straight from the factory, the Super SUV underwent tailored enhancements to be suited for police service in Dubai.
Commenting at the ceremony, General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, acting commander-in-chief, of Dubai Police expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Lamborghini Dubai. “The high-performance Super SUV was added as part of Dubai Police’s efforts to increase the number of patrol officers across Dubai. The new Lamborghini Urus Performante will support Dubai police in their commitment to better serve residents, maintain social safety and security, and provide services in popular tourist destinations.
