The DS3 Crossback promises a complete revolution of electric driving. Top on the promise is a lithium-ion battery that keeps 50 kilowatts of power.
The Crossback is a front-wheeler that can do 200 miles on that battery. With these specs, it is expected to compete for agressievely in the premium SUV market of pure-electric cars.
One of the interesting elements of this EV car is that it can be charged from the normal three-pin home socket, although it will take not less than 16-20 hours to get to about 80%. However, there is an alternative charging option available will do 80% in just 30 minutes. The company also wants to make it easy to install home charging systems.
The revolutionary aspect in the Crossback approach is found mainly on its choice of charging systems. While many developers are keen on dry cells alone, the E-Tense provides liquid-cooled batteries that are instrumental in preventing damage in rapid charging situations.
Rapid charging adversely affects the battery’s longevity and is a challenge that several manufacturers are learning to maneuver. The brand also promises a warranty of eight years (100 000 mile range) which should be enticing enough to customers.
With the batteries under the floor, a lot of weight dynamics has been taken care of and the car still feels firm on the road. Its neat curvy exterior is also very sporty and gorgeous.
The E-Tense is able to hit 0-30mph just 3.3 seconds. Although there will be a petrol and diesel version of the Crossback, it is the E-Tense which promises to tilt the scales immensely
