During the recent Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, a highly uncommon 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT, originally commissioned for Donald Trump, achieved a new record for the highest price ever paid for a Diablo at auction.
Painted in the exclusive Blu Le Mans color, this model features a unique door plaque with the inscription “Donald Trump 1997 Diablo.” Only 132 Diablo VT’s were produced between 1997 and 1999.
In 2002, Trump sold the Diablo VT, which had approximately 15,000 miles on the odometer, indicating that it was regularly driven during his ownership.
When the gavel finally fell, the selling price before fees was $1.1 million USD, with auction visitors cheering as the price broke $1 million.
The last highest-priced Diablo sold at auction was in May 2017, a 1994 Diablo SE30 that went for $396,915 via RM Sotheby’s.
