The Demon 170 is no ordinary Challenger. It features a revamped 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, derived from the ‘Hellephant C170’ crate engine. Sitting atop the engine is a 3.0-liter supercharger that provides 40% more boost than the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody.
This setup results in an impressive 1025 horsepower at 6500 rpm and a remarkable 945 lb-ft of torque. To unleash its full potential, the engine needs to be fueled with E85. Alternatively, it can run on E10 fuel, reducing the power output to 900 hp and 810 lb-ft.
With such immense power, the Challenger SRT Demon 170 excels in quarter-mile times. It achieves 0-60 mph in just 1.66 seconds and completes a quarter-mile in 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph. Consequently, Dodge now holds the title for the fastest-accelerating production car globally.
Dodge plans to manufacture 3300 units of the Challenger SRT Demon 170, with production set to commence in July 2023. Despite the official price of $96,000, reports indicate that the car is being resold for over $200,000.
