The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York revealed in December 2018 that it will showcase a Fiat 500 F Series to the public, starting on February 10, 2019. This event serves as a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic designs globally.
Luca Napolitano, the Head of EMEA Fiat and Abarth brands, highlighted that selecting the Fiat F 500 was a proper acknowledgment of a brand that has remained timeless. He remarked, “The 500 is an icon of Italian style that has never faded out of popularity and has gained fans worldwide over the years due to its distinctive features and strong character. Since 1957, the Fiat 500 has consistently brought vibrancy and joy to everyday life on the streets globally, emerging as an ambassador of Italy and a symbol of style and Italian design.”
The museum added the Fiat F series to its design archive in 2017, focusing on items that were both well-crafted and affordable for the general public.
The Fiat played a significant role in mobilizing Italy, with approximately four million such vehicles sold across all models between 1957 and 1975, signifying its substantial impact.
