I am a big fan of the classic Porsche 930 Turbo. With its iconic black bumper insets, this car once rivaled the likes of the Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari Testarossa. It remains a true classic in my eyes. However, the 300 hp generated by its flat-six engine is overshadowed by the impressive 650 hp found in the latest Porsche 992. But imagine if we were to stage a comparison drag race featuring the original Porsche 930 Turbo, along with the Porsche 964 Turbo, the Porsche 993 Turbo, the Porsche 996 Turbo S, the Porsche 997 Turbo S, the Porsche 991 Turbo S, and the stunning Porsche 992 Turbo S. It’s worth mentioning that the three older models come equipped with a manual gearbox, with the 930 Turbo boasting a four-speed manual transmission.
Fear not, as Mat Watson from the popular YouTube channel CarWOW has assembled these models, lined them up side by side, and conducted some thrilling drag races on a spacious track. The outcome may be predictable, but it’s still incredibly entertaining to witness these magnificent machines go head to head. To add even more excitement, they also perform a braking test, yielding some intriguing results. Be sure to check out the video below to see all the action:
