During the 1972 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari introduced an open-top version of the Dino 246 which was called the GTS. Approximately 1200 units were manufactured over a two-year period. The 246 GTS featured a removable roof panel similar to the one found in the 1967 Porsche 911 Targa. Both of these cars took inspiration from the Surrey-Top Triumph TR4, which was the first to incorporate such a panel.

The Dino series was created in honor of Enzo Ferrari’s son, Alfredo Ferrari, who was an advocate for the V6 engine before his unfortunate passing. The series began with several 206 sport prototypes and eventually led to the 246 road cars.

The 1974 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS ‘Chairs & Flares’ by Scaglietti Motorcar Studios is a car that stands out with its unique features. Collectors are drawn to the “Chairs and Flares” which are special elements that make this car even more desirable. The “Chairs” feature includes distinct seats inspired by Ferrari’s V-12-powered GTB/4 Daytona, with leather racing-style buckets and eye-catching inserts in a different color. Additionally, the “Flares” option provides Group 4-style flared wheel arches that give the Dino a more aggressive appearance while maintaining its elegant lines.

The ‘Chairs and Flares’ package included special 7.5-inch-wide magnesium alloy cast Campagnolo wheels unique to the model. Each feature could be ordered independently, making cars equipped with both “Chairs & Flares” exceptionally rare and highly sought-after. It is estimated that fewer than 150 GTS examples were produced with both features, elevating them to the pinnacle of Dino production. The 1974 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS ‘Chairs & Flares’ by Scaglietti Motorcar Studios is available in various sizes.
