The latest iteration of the Continental GT Speed was revealed for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was showcased both on the hillclimb track and in a unique underwater setting, in line with this year’s festival theme “Horseless to Hybrid – Revolutions in Power.”
The new Continental GT Speed, showcased in coupe and convertible iterations at Goodwood, emerges as the most potent road-going Bentley model to date. It features an all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain delivering 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, surpassing the outgoing W12 in both power and torque, while drastically reducing CO2 emissions to 29 g/km*.
The vehicle’s exceptional powertrain is complemented by an upgraded chassis system that includes two-chamber air springs, dual-valve dampers, Bentley Dynamic Ride (48V active anti-roll control), eLSD, and torque vectoring. This setup ensures remarkable body control and the highest level of ride comfort ever achieved in a Continental GT, supported by a rear-biased weight distribution of 49:51, a first in the car’s history.
The new design of the Bentley Continental GT marks a significant shift for the brand, with the most substantial changes to the front of the car in 20 years and the reintroduction of single headlamps, a feature not seen since the 1950s.
Bentley continues its tradition of creating world-class interior cabins with the latest model. The new Continental GT features advanced seat technology for enhanced wellness, improved air ionization, three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting, and innovative finishes like dark chrome.
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in addition to two new Continental GT Speed models showcased in the Hill Climb event, a third car is being displayed in a creative manner close to the Kinrara Enclosure. This unique display celebrates the unofficial ‘Underwater Speed Record,’ where a car reached a top speed of 208 mph / 335 km/h in a tunnel.
The ‘FOShtank’ exhibit is a special version of the glass ‘Toy Box’ displays used at Bentley’s Crewe campus, featuring a custom-built fish tank as a playful nod to the aquatic theme.
