An Overview of the Hispano Suiza Carmen EV: Breaking Ground in the Age of Electric Vehicles

For now, let’s set aside the ongoing debate about the ownership of the meticulous Hispano Suiza brand by two different companies. One of these entities is Hispano Suiza Automobilmanufaktur AG, led by Austrian car designer Erwin Leo Himmel. The other contender is the Spanish family headed by Miguel Suqué Mateu, the great-grandson of Damián Mateu, who co-founded the Spanish Hispano Suiza back in 1904.

Putting aside the corporate battles, let’s delve into the Hispano Suiza Carmen crafted by the Mateu family. This all-electric vehicle is far from ordinary; it is designed for the luxury market, catering to car enthusiasts with a penchant for extraordinary automobiles. The Carmen stands as a unique piece that effortlessly captivates onlookers.

Equipped with dual electric motors on each rear wheel, it boasts a remarkable 1,005 horsepower generated by a T-shaped Lithium-Ion battery positioned along the central spine of the vehicle. The battery offers a range of up to 248 miles (400 kilometers) on a single charge.

The creators claim the Carmen can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under three seconds, with a top speed limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Notably, the Carmen differentiates itself from other powerful electric cars by driving the rear wheels. Considerable engineering attention has been devoted to the rear of the vehicle, focusing on power distribution between the drive wheels to enhance stability and cornering capabilities.
