Japan has a history of pioneering innovations, especially in the realm of speed. The automotive industry in Japan is known for its relentless drive and passion in creating products that often leave spectators in awe.
The Aspark Owl made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2017, boasting remarkable claims such as being able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under two seconds. Despite initial skepticism, the vehicle resurfaced at the Paris Auto Show in 2018 with even more ambitious specifications.
The company based in Osaka disclosed that the electric supercar could produce a staggering 1,150 horsepower, a significant increase from the earlier claim of 430 hp. The Aspark Owl comes with a hefty price tag of $1.15 million for a non-refundable deposit, leading to a final price of $4.4 million. With plans to manufacture only 50 units and deliveries not commencing until 2020, this is a bold move.
The vehicle is said to have a range of approximately 186 miles (300 km) on a full charge, reaching a top speed of 174 mph with a dry weight of 3,300 pounds. The engine is expected to deliver 429 bhp and 563 lbs of torque.
Though these claims may sound ambitious, it is essential to recognize that this project is a work in progress. With the precedents set by companies like Tesla in defying doubts and achieving remarkable feats, there is certainly room for optimism about the Aspark Owl’s potential success.
